Geographic range and origin: The Northern Cardinal's habitat territory reaches from Northwestern Mexico to the wooded forests of Northern Maine and the entire East Coast, as well as some parts of Central America; within this range they stay year round. The estimated population of Cardinalis cardinalis is arround 120 million, that of which 77% reside in the United States, and 22% live in Mexico.
